Greetings,
and thank you for your interest in the world of "Combat
Sports Photography". If you have
the desire to learn, and have given serious consideration to how the established photographers approach shooting boxing, kickboxing, or MMA- or even how to get into the industry- then you've come to the right place. As you might have guessed this isn't a "brick and mortar" school, but rather a consulting service. As of this writing I have over four years and 100+ events experience within the industry, and have gained a wealth of knowledge and insight on both the photographic and business aspects of Combat Sports Photography. The education I have to offer is going to be tailored to your needs. Not everyone is interested in nor have the same goals, so I feel it's important to give the student what they need rather than offer a "one size fits all" solution to issues they may already have a firm grasp of, or might not need at all. Who can benefit from this, and what I have to offer Many photographers are taken by surprise when they learn of the many technical aspects of shooting Combat Sports, and how different they are from covering other sports and other forms of action photography. Though more alike than dissimilar, there are distinctions between covering boxing, kickboxing, and MMA that can even throw off a veteran of shooting one of the respective Combat Sports when they've had minimal or no experience with covering the others. Those who may benefit from my instruction include: - photojournalist - photography students - experienced Sports Photographers looking to expand their business - advanced hobbyists - promoters looking to have their events covered and of course - aspiring Combat Sports Photographers Areas of expertise
My instructions aren't brand-specific, though if you want to cover Combat Sports effectively you're going to need a DSLR and a decent lens or two, which brings be to my next point- what I cover: - entering the industry - equipment - photographic techniques - post-processing - business - ethics and conduct About I've been shooting Combat Sports for SnapLocally.com
since 2006. I've covered boxing, kickboxing, MMA, BJJ, seminars, as
well as Traditional Martial Arts, youth wrestling, professional
wrestling, and even a little music.
My work- though I mainly shoot in Minnesota and occasionally in Wisconsin- has been published in international publications such as MMA Worldwide, TapouT, and Real Fighter Magazine. My work has been featured on dozens of websites including Eastside Boxing and Grapple Arts. I've also covered a number of televised events, including those seen on ShoBox and Fox Sports North.
